About Vaughan

Vaughan completed his medical degree at the University of Otago and his advanced orthopaedic training in New Zealand, gaining his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2008. Vaughan then pursued further subspecialty training in hip and knee preservation and primary and revision joint replacement, completing fellowships at the University of Toronto and the University of Zurich.

Vaughan has published a number of peer reviewed research papers and has been on the national committees of the Australia & New Zealand Hip Fracture Registry, the NZ Joint Registry, and the NZ Hip Society.

​

​Vaughan has a strong passion for orthopaedic outreach and humanitarian work. He co-founded the Orthopacifix Charitable Trust to support better access to orthopaedic care across the Pacific Islands. Through this work, and as a member of the Pacific Islands Orthopaedic Association, he regularly travels to teach and support orthopaedic teams throughout the region.

​

​He has also been part of international disaster response teams following major natural disasters, working overseas with the Australian Medical Assistance Team in the Philippines and with the New Zealand Medical Assistance Team in Fiji.

​

​Outside of work, Vaughan enjoys running, golf, mountain biking, reading and relaxing with his family.
