Tauranga Orthopaedic Research

Your Experience is Our Priority

Our goal is to help you move more freely, live with less pain, and achieve the best possible outcome after surgery.

To support this, Tauranga Orthopaedic Research has been collecting both qualitative and quantitative data on joint replacement surgeries since 2005. By tracking patient experiences before and after surgery, we can better understand what truly works — helping you recover well today while improving care for future patients.

Our research is guided by the extensive experience and knowledge of our orthopaedic surgeons. For us, it’s about more than just performing an operation — it’s about understanding how surgery changes your life, and how we can keep making that experience better.

Why Your Experience Matters

Every surgery is about more than just fixing a joint — it’s about helping you get back to living with less pain, better movement, and an improved quality of life.

By listening to patients and tracking recovery, we can learn and share what works best, and continue improving care for everyone in our community.

How We Follow Your Progress

To understand how you’re doing, we invite you to fill in short questionnaires at different points in your journey:

  • Before your surgery

  • One year afterwards

  • Every five years following surgery

These surveys are quick, easy, and based on international standards. Most importantly, they focus on how you feel — because your experience matters most.

Helping Shape Better Care

When you take part, you’re not only keeping track of your own progress, but also helping us improve orthopaedic care for future patients. Your feedback gives us valuable insights that guide new techniques, better treatments, and even new technologies.

Together, we’re making surgery outcomes better — one patient at a time.
