OSL & Grace Orthopaedic Centre

Grace Orthopaedic Centre was purpose-built by the OSL surgeons when Grace Hospital was being developed. While Grace Hospital now owns the building, OSL has leased the space ever since and continues to manage the facility.

We sublet the rooms to surgeons—most of whom also work under OSL’s surgical contracts with ACC and other funders—and take care of anything that impacts how the centre operates. While each surgeon runs their own practice and employs their own team, OSL provides shared systems, infrastructure, and leadership on anything that affects multiple practices.

It’s a setup that allows surgeons to stay focused on their patients while we take care of everything from facility policies to being the central point for things like privacy compliance.

How it Works

In most cases, a patient is referred to a surgeon through ACC or identified by the public hospital as a candidate for outsourced surgery. That initial consultation is billed through OSL under our Clinical Services contract.

If surgery is needed, the surgeon and their practice put together an Assessment and Treatment Plan (ARTP), which OSL submits to ACC for approval. Once it’s signed off, the practice coordinates the surgery at Grace Hospital.

From there, OSL handles the behind-the-scenes work—processing payments from the funder and distributing them to the hospital, anaesthetist, and surgeon.
