About Vahe

Vahe was born and raised in San Diego, California, moving to the Wairarapa at the age of 16.  After finishing medical school in Auckland, he trained in Orthopaedic surgery throughout major centres in New Zealand.  Following this, further subspecialist fellowships were undertaken in Seattle, USA, and Melbourne, Australia.  Here, he trained with some of the world's leading experts in upper limb and paediatric orthopaedic surgery.
 

Vahe has a strong interest in upper limb surgery, from congenital hand differences through to shoulder replacement. 

​

Vahe is a member of the NZOA, New Zealand Society for Surgery of the Hand, Shoulder and Elbow Society, and Paediatric Society of New Zealand.

​

While working at Tauranga and Whakatane Hospitals in the public sector, Vahe has an active role in teaching and mentoring junior doctors and medical students.

​

​Vahe lives in Tauranga with his wife and four children, and enjoys going out fishing and surfing when time allows.
