About Matt

After graduating from Auckland Medical School in 2010, Matt pursued early research in orthopaedics, earning a Master of Medical Science in 2015, then gained his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

​

To further build his expertise, he trained in high-volume hip and knee replacement at the University of British Columbia Hospital in Vancouver, then specialised in foot and ankle reconstruction during a fellowship at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Halifax.

​

​​Matt’s also passionate about education and research—mentoring orthopaedic trainees and contributing regularly to medical journals in his specialist areas. He is a member of the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association, the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and the New Zealand Foot and Ankle Society.

​

​Matt and his young family enjoy making the most of the region’s outdoors — whether it’s swimming in the ocean, exploring rivers, or heading out to the lake for a weekend adventure.
