About Dawson

Dawson completed his medical degree at Otago in 1993, before training in orthopaedic surgery. Dawson headed overseas completing a Foot and Ankle and Paediatric Orthopaedic Fellowship at the University of Iowa. He also trained at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, and later at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, focusing on knee surgery, sports injuries and joint replacement.

​Alongside his clinical work, Dawson is heavily involved in education and professional development. He is currently the Deputy Chairman of the National Education Subcommittee for the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association and plays an important role in assessing international orthopaedic graduates. He also sits on the board of the New Zealand National Joint Registry, contributing to national data and outcomes tracking.

​In his free time, Dawson enjoys spending time with friends and family, and when possible, enjoying outdoor adventures in the Bay.
