About David

After completing his medical degree at Otago in 1991, David built a strong foundation across multiple areas of medicine—including sports medicine, occupational health, paediatrics and obstetrics.

​

He spent several years working as a GP before pursuing specialist orthopaedic training in New Zealand, followed by further fellowship training focused on spine and sports surgery.

Today, David splits his time between public and private practice, which he believes is key to providing patients with consistent, well-rounded care.

​

David has presented and published his ideas both in New Zealand and overseas, with a keen interest in innovation—especially when it improves patient safety. He’s been using computer-navigated spine surgery at Grace Hospital for several years, offering a more precise and advanced approach to spinal care.

​

Outside of work, David enjoys cycling and cooking with his family.
