About Andrew

Andrew trained in medicine at Otago University and completed his orthopaedic training across hospitals in New Zealand. After gaining his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, He travelled to Australia for further sub-specialty training in sports surgery, shoulder, elbow and hand procedures.

​

Andrew offers a full spectrum of care, including joint-preserving techniques like osteotomy (limb realignment), partial and total joint replacements, and complex revision surgeries. Where possible, he uses less invasive approaches like endoscopic carpal tunnel release and arthroscopic reconstruction.

 

​He’s actively involved in education and clinical leadership—teaching locally and across the Asia-Pacific, supervising medical students at the Bay of Plenty campus as an Honorary Lecturer for Auckland Medical School, and contributing to Grace Hospital’s clinical governance as part of the Medical Advisory Committee.

​

​Andrew has also been awarded the New Zealand Shoulder and Elbow Surgeon’s Travelling Fellowship, allowing him to visit leading centres in Europe to further refine his surgical skills and bring those insights back to benefit his patients.

​

​​Outside of work, Andrew is a keen runner, mountain biker and paddler. He enjoys multi-sport and adventure racing, and spending time outdoors with his growing family.
